If you’re involved in a car accident, you should do several things. The first is call the police. The second is get medical attention if you need it. And the third is call an attorney.
And the reason I say third is because we want you to be taken care of first. Then you can call us, and then we can get involved. But one of the main reasons is that in New York State you only have 30 days to file a no-fault application for benefits, whether that’s with your own insurance company or another vehicle’s insurance company, depending on how the accident happened. So it’s necessary that you do contact an attorney pretty early in your case.
Also, because insurance companies will try and contact you and try to settle your case early. For them, they can get away with settling it quite cheaply. But once you have an attorney, we can protect your right.
It’s very important to retain a lawyer when you get into a car accident. The insurance companies only care about one thing, and that’s themselves and keeping their money. They don’t really care about an injured individual, so a lawyer can best protect your rights.
